Peepli Live

Natha a poor farmer from Peepli village in the heart of country India is about to lose his story of land as a result of an overdue bank loan. A quick fix to the trouble is the a government program that aids the households of indebted farmers that have dedicated self-destruction. As a way of survival Farmer Natha can pick to die. His brother is happy to push him in the direction of this one-of-a-kind 'honour' but Natha hesitates. Regional elections are around the bend as well as what could have been one more undetected occasion becomes a 'cause celebre' with everybody wanting a piece of the action. Political bigwigs, high-level bureaucrats, regional henchmen and the ever-zealous media descend upon drowsy Peepli to lay their insurance claim. The question on everybody's lips - "Will he or Will not he?" As the mania intensifies, nobody seems to care just how Natha truly feels.
